How can a live-in carer support your loved one? - Care 1st Homecare & Live-in

How can a live-in carer support your loved one?

Supporting you with your day-to-day needs.

Live-in carers carry out a multitude of tasks daily, from light housework, making sure that the house runs efficiently, popping out to get the groceries as well as providing the stimulus your loved one needs – such as talking some daily exercise or having a natter over a cup of tea.

Daily duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • Help with getting up, taking a shower and getting dressed
  • Help with preparing meals and batch cooking for the week
  • Shopping with you or for you
  • Light cleaning, vacuuming and dusting
  • Washing up, or popping the dirty plates in the dishwasher – and putting them away
  • Disinfecting the surfaces and cleaning the fridge
  • Cleaning the bathroom and wiping down the toilet
  • Changing the bedsheets and airing the rooms
  • Washing and ironing
  • Light gardening
  • Walking the dog, or feeding the fish
  • Help with paying simple bills or house admin
  • Taking you to visit neighbours, friends or family
  • Attending the local community group, knit and natter club, or church fete
  • Going for a walk around the village or park

A live-in carer will be on hand to provide both companionship, help with the daily chores as well as being on hand should an emergency arise. The primary role of being a live-in carer, is to enable the person that they care for to continue to live-in the home that they know and love – in comfort, whilst enabling them to retain their personal dignity, feel independent and in control of their own life

Of course, and needless to say the services provided by a live-in carer will vary in accordance with the individual needs of the person requiring care. This is the primary benefit of live-in, round-the-clock, one-to-one care at home; it’s care in your own home – tailored individually to you.
