Our specialist carers are trained in palliative care, they’ve all been hand selected for their kindness, compassion and discretion and can offer assistance with medication, preparing meals, helping your loved one bathe and dress, they’ll also take care of any errands so you don’t need to. Our carers are on hand for the fundamental day-to-day tasks to ease the burden of running the household, as well as being there for you or your loved one when you need a cup of tea, a sympathetic ear or just to sit and know that someone is by your side.  

With branches across the South West in Bristol, Berkshire, Gloucester & Swindon we can provide home care visits at the drop of a hat, we also provide live-in, respite or short term emergency care further afield. Our experienced, compassionate care experts are used to working closely with people in your care circle such as GP’s, district nurses, hospices and continuing health care teams. We will ensure that we work with you to set out a care & support plan which meets your loved ones personal wishes and takes care of any specifics such as medication or pain relief.

What is palliative care?

Palliative care is specialist support for people who are living with a serious terminal illness. Care 1st are able to offer palliative care to families through either our live-in, respite or home care visits  service. Our support can be tailored to anything you or your loved one wishes, we are on hand to help with administering medication, personal care, continence care, mobility support and we can even provide two carers should they be needed to help with customers that are bed-bound. We are able to help with general daily tasks such as the washing up, shopping, mopping the floor, preparing meals – even taking the dog for a walk.

Our carers can be on hand for whatever you need, to help make your life a little less stressful at the time you need the most support. Our goal is to help improve the quality of your life and take away the burden of the daily rigmarole so that you can just focus on being a family.

Our entire expert care team is at your disposal, you’ll have a care manager who is on call to assist you and a dedicated carer who’ll support you throughout your journey with us. We aren’t an introductory agency, we are a fully managed service, we’re still proud to be family owned and run and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

We can support you with:

  • Live in care – we’ll be on hand 24/7, round the clock to assist you with whatever you need
  • Respite care – we can provide respite cover to give you, or your main carer a little break as and when you need it 
  • Emergency care – at the drop of a hat we can be on hand to offer you support at home 
  • Visiting home care – from as little as 30 minutes; visits once, twice or three times a day, during the day or we can even sleep over to ensure your loved one has the care that they need
